International Research Centre for Renewable Energy Germany (Internationales Forschungszentrum für Erneuerbare Energien Deutschland e.V. IFEED)

The International Research Centre for Renewable Energies Germany (IFEED) was founded in 1999 in Dedelstorf in Northern Germany on a former military campus with a total area of ca. 280 ha including forests, grassland and buildings. Its aims are to promote renewable energy and implementation of new developments in this area.

The tasks of the Centre are research, demonstration, advice and education. Key tasks include:

IFEED is involved in the preparation of studies and development of strategy, the content is, among other things, the expected global and regional demand for electricity, water and food to 2050 and to identify and develop concepts to meet these requirements.

The centre is associated to the FAO working group 3 (biomass for energy and environment, SREN) and co-operates with different organisations, institutions and administration bodies. There is also close co-operation with FAO, EU and with different centres for renewable energies in Europe, Asia, USA and Latin America. The IFEED is member of the World Council of Renewable Energies (WCRE) and recognised as "Centre of Excellence", promoting renewable energies.

Since 2003, the new headquarters for IFEED is located in Sievershausen near Hannover.
